Walk and Talk with Gabrielle #5 – “When you look like a man in a dress…” (video)

Walk and Talk with Gabrielle #5
“When you look like a man in a dress…”

In a 2015 TIME interview, Caitlyn Jenner commented, “When you look like a man in a dress, it makes people uncomfortable.” It was a rather unpopular statement among transgender people… but was she right?

I don’t pass and sometimes people react with visible discomfort in my presence. I shared one such experience in Walk and Talk with Gabrielle #2 – “That’s a man!”

Is passing important to you? Why or why not? Please share your thoughts and opinions in a comment!

Walk and Talk with Gabrielle #4Bisexual, Pansexual, Polyamory, and Monogamy Myths & Realities. What kind of assumptions have people made about you because of your sexual orientation? What kind of assumptions have you caught yourself making about others, in this regard?

Misunderstanding, assumption, and myth
It’s sometimes assumed that bisexual and pansexual people are polyamorous by nature. That’s not quite how it works. Also included in the video are some misconceptions and realities about monogamy.

I’ll also be sharing life lessons and wisdom learned along my journey – knowledge that can empower and benefit everyone.

Separation of Church and State of Mind – Discrimination Masquerading as Religious Freedom & Superiority

Gabrielle speaking in Church

My message is love
They say it’s best to avoid talking about religion and politics so as not to offend anyone. If I held my tongue every time there was potential for someone to find what I have to share offensive, I’d never speak publicly again. Having said that, it is my goal to offer useful information, insight and opinion in thoughtful, respectful ways least likely to be off-putting. When I get things wrong, I’m always grateful to be called on it. Feedback and criticism are welcome and appreciated. Some seek to shame and control people. My passion is to enlighten, inspire and empower, starting with you…

Religious denial of service
You may recall reports of Christian owned bakeries refusing service to gay and lesbian couples, citing religious beliefs. A few years ago, these reports were heavily debated in the news and social media. To some, the whole argument might seem trivial, I mean, why not just do business with another bakery, right? That’s not the point, but for most people it may seem like a complete non-issue. However, the consequences extend well beyond what appears deceptively simple on the surface.

The Truth About Anti-Transgender Bathroom Laws – A Political Charade that Endangers Lives

Gabrielle HermosaMy not so hidden agenda
It is my goal to offer useful information, insight and opinion in thoughtful, respectful ways least likely to be off-putting. When I get things wrong, I’m always grateful to be called on it. What’s up with all this bathroom stuff?
You may have heard a thing or two about controversial “anti-transgender bathroom bills” and confusing messages about what it means to be transgender. Although most of the proposed and existing bathroom legislation includes trans men and trans women, I’m going to focus primarily on trans women because we’re the main target of misleading political propaganda and fearmongering tactics. So, what’s all the fuss about transgender bathroom use and how come no one seemed to care until late 2015? I’ll attempt to explain that and reveal dangerous implications that may affect all women transgender or not. Here’s a hint: these laws have nothing to do with “bathroom safety” and have created danger where there used not to be.
