Gabi Talks – Dressing Age Appropriate (video)

Do you think it’s more important to “dress age appropriate”, regardless? Or to dress appropriate to your body type and personal style? Check out my take on “dressing age appropriate” in this short 90-second video.

Most of us have to dress a certain way for career purposes, or appropriate to specific activities, and that’s not the question being asked. This is about social policing people based solely on their age, and the expectation that people of a certain age should dress a certain way, because of what decade in life they’re at, period.

What’s your take on things? Should we be consulting some kind of “style-by-number reference guide”, based on age?

Transgender Healthcare, Able-bodied Privilege, and Depression (vlog)

In this 3 minute video I share my experiences seeking medical care as a transgender woman, what temporary loss of mobility taught me about able-bodied privilege, and my struggle with depression – the reason I’ve been absent from social media for the past couple of months.

Have you struggled with an injury or loss of mobility?

Video: Tabling, Talking, Meeting People, Educating and Grocery Shopping

Because I felt like sharing a beautiful day and a smile
This short video was recorded a couple of days ago. A friend and I were “tabling” volunteers for the GAGV downtown Rochester at the Metro Center for SUNY Brockport during their Wellness Fair this past Wednesday (April 16, 2014).

Making new friends
This kind of volunteer work offers an excellent opportunity to meet people, converse, share, increase positive LGBTQ awareness, educate, learn and make new friends.

Vlog #05: feelin’ hot, busy life, questions, and an iPad 2

This is entry #5 in my vlog series. Hard to believe it’s been over a YEAR since posting my previous video! It honestly doesn’t feel like that long.

There’s been a lot going on in my life, which is why I haven’t been able to keep new content rolling out on a regular basis. I was however, able to take a little time and make this short video. I hope you’ll share a minute or two of your day with me to watch and comment. Video running time: 1 minute, 21 seconds

About the video
The video was shot on May 29, 2011 with my iPad 2, and later edited on it (mostly). The main reason for making it, besides the fact that it’s been so long since my last, was to put something out there and let people know I’m alive and well and… well, still me. Over a period of time, several people wrote to me and asked if/when I might publish another video.

Vlog #4: All Dressed Up With No Place to Go

This is entry #4 in my vlog series. It’s been a few months (about five) since my last vlog was published. My, how time flies!

Clocking in at a whopping 30 seconds in length, this is my shortest vlog to date. Sometimes less is more, and I think this is a good example. It’s short and sweet. My apologies if you were hoping for something a little longer. You can always play it again a few more times. Don’t worry, it won’t wear out.

Vlog #3: Thanksgiving, Coming Out, and Horror Movies

vlog 3 video currently offline
NOTE: I took the video offline, see below.

To my American friends, happy Thanksgiving, 2009, a day early. To friends around rest of the world, happy November 26, a day early. Holiday or not, I hope everyone enjoys the company of friends, family and good food.

This is vlog entry #3 – a (mostly) Thanksgiving themed video that is bit experimental in presentation. In a departure from grainy phone video, this one was recorded on a standard resolution video camera and features a few basic but fun visual effects.
